Viktor was wrapped in the burgundy winter coat that Jayce had given him last year. It was just a little bit big on him and he had the gloves that Inanna had given him along with a plaid scarf. Viktor was never on good terms with the winter months since the cold weather meant that he had dealt with a lot of pain that ached in his leg, hips, and spine. But a lot has changed since last year.
Adele was cuddled up between the fabric of his scarf and the skin of his neck. She could handle a little cold but not very much. And she just plain didn't like being both cold and separated from Viktor, but she did trill happily at K. Then as soon as Viktor was inside the door, she darted out from under the scarf and flew up to circle around K once then perch on his shoulder. She wasn't quite fully grown yet but she was certainly bigger than when she was a baby. Call it her teenager phase. Although even at full-grown she would only be about the length of Viktor's forearm. Viktor just smiled at her antics and closed the door behind him.
Through the bond, it might be a little muted but Viktor was feeling a touch of nervousness. Not about whether or not K would like the pendant but that Viktor was hoping that it would be able to resolve his migraines.
"Well, part of it is that I wanted to see how you've been feeling. The migraines were a problem for you before. Another part of it..."
When Viktor had taken off his coat and scarf he brought out the stone from the Encantado River from his pocket to nestle in the palm of his hand. Viktor did not pay social calls just because and he was too practical to waste any time on other social niceties.
"...Is talking to you about what this stone is meant to do inside a pendant. Your programming was made to have a handler or owner make some decisions for you. But instead of that, I want to try to circumvent your programming altogether so you would not have any owner and be just fine. Mel is a competent healer and I've spoken to Tech about being able to change that magic into something that a machine would be able to process and he said that you should know what it is meant to do before anything else. I am wary of saying anything because I don't fully know if this would be a solution to your problem. But in order for that to be made possible you would have to know what it is for."
The sight of Viktor so bundled up against the cold prompts K to step away for a moment, in order to rekindle the fire in the fireplace. Just in case Viktor or Adele might like to warm up in front of it. When the latter perches on his shoulder like usual, he reaches to gently rub her head in greeting while listening to Viktor.
"An ongoing problem," K admits about the migraines, which have become an almost daily nuisance that he's been trying to learn to live with. He's reluctant to elaborate on just how bad things have gotten, though some days are better than others â especially when physically near Tech, he's noticed. He suspects it may be the god's technopathy or related abilities acting like something of an analgesic, one that actually works on androids.
He looks the stone over with interest, his expression becoming all the more curious as Viktor explains his idea. So far he has yet to encounter a type of healing magic that's fully compatible with his synthetic physiology; most simply have no effect on him. But what Viktor is proposing... it sounds like it really could be the solution, or could at least enable him to figure out the solution himself, as Tech had suggested. Either way, it's very promising.
"I think it's a brilliant idea, Viktor. I'd like to try it." Since Viktor seems to also be seeking his consent, he specifically gives it. "It means a lot that you'd all go to so much trouble just to help me. I don't know how I'll ever repay you," he says, briefly ducking his head as a shy smile tugs at the corners of his mouth. He's also grateful for Adele; petting her keeps his hands occupied, which helps to ease his nerves. "Is there anything you need me to do?"
Viktor was seeking his consent, after a fashion. Tech had pointed out that whatever they did would have to work with K's particular physiology and to do that he needed to not only give his consent but actively work with what the pendent was supposed to do.
Adele was happy to get pets but soon lost interest in them and flew away just a little distance, preferring instead the warmth of the fireplace. She stretched like a cat in front of it and curled up to sit like a cat loaf with her wings draped over either side. Taking his cue from her Viktor moved out of the entranceway and took a seat on the closest couch.
"It doesn't feel like I should be talking to you about this because I'm not certain it will work. But since it would require your direct knowledge and participation, Tech pointed out the need for it."
And Viktor is too much of a perfectionist to present incomplete work. Even knowing it was required left him feeling anxious about saying anything at all. Viktor also thought that was an odd thing to say, and gave K a quizzical smile.
"But you don't need to repay anything. You need help with resolving your migraines, so those who know you are doing what they can to help you do that."
Following after the pair, K likewise takes a seat on the couch, pleased to think it might mean he'll have Viktor's company for at least a little while longer. It's good getting to spend time with him outside of their respective work at the lab-forge and garden project, as rare as it is. Which has him thinking that maybe he should ask if Viktor might like to spend more time with him in a social context.
"Even if it doesn't work... I appreciate what you're trying to do, Viktor. Sincerely."
The thought always counts when it comes to K; he never takes such consideration or kindness for granted.
"And I've been thinking that I'd like to help you more, too. With your projects, or anything else you might like an extra pair of hands or eyes for." Or if Viktor ever just wants â companionship? "Not as repayment," he clarifies before Viktor can protest that point, "but because I want to. I enjoy spending time with you."
Viktor had asked for K's help on the garden project, but maybe he was meaning something a bit more than going to a biome which would prove to be difficult for a human. Either way, Victor's quizzical smile turned more genuine.
"Yes, I would like for you to come to the hydroponic garden more. I feel as if I hardly ever see you."
Viktor thought it would be rude to call on K and then immediately turn around and leave. So he would stay for a moment.
"I warn you that I'm very bad at small talk, though. "
