Hello,

My name is Mako. We haven’t spoken before. Ruby put your name forward as someone who might be willing to keep a cache of food stocked in your home. We can’t be sure that the dream is going to hold together, or that the usual food sources will be reliable for much longer. If you’re willing, I have a list of the basics that you’d need.

It's a sound idea and I'm happy to be of assistance in this matter. Send me the list. I'm the proprietor of the Deerington Public House on Crimson Drive — which has served as a refuge in prior months to Sleepers in need, and I've maintained the practise of stockpiling extra supplies there. You may also direct Sleepers there and come yourself if the need for a safe haven arises again. Or just come for a drink, of course.

[ The positive response is... such a relief. Mako’s maybe throwing himself into work to avoid a lot of awfulness right now, and he’s glad it’s actually paying off, that people are already planning. ]

And I’m going to mark the Public House on a map as a safe space. That’s good to know—we’re building another safehouse on Princess Drive (it’s already a house)—so if you ever need one close by, that’s your best bet.

It’s good to know there are other people planning for things going wrong. How long have you been here?

That's a good list. I'll see to getting more of the items I don't already have extras of. I'm glad you're organising an effort like this and that Ruby thought to suggest me.

A year and few months for me. I imagine anyone who's been here a while may have started taking similar precautions — hopefully more will be willing to help with this. And thank you for the information on the safehouse. Have you been here long yourself?

It would be better if it wasn't necessary but I'm pretty sure it is. Things aren't looking good. The town's literally disappearing in places.

Luckily, everyone I've asked so far has agreed and most people have personal stocks, so.
